Frescobol was invented in 1945 by Lian Pontes de Carvalho (businessman) in Copacabana, who made some rackets calling the sport beach tennis.


In 1958, Millôr Fernandes (Brazilian writer, journalist, cartoonist, humorist and more.) in his column Pif-Paf of the magazine O cruzeiro called fresco-ball a fussy, picky sport. But he and his troops were also playing in Ipanema beach (Arpoador).


Fact: this is the only sport in the world with no winners or losers
